NYFW Spring/Summer 2018 Trends: Fuchsia

One of my favorite parts of Fashion Week is getting a sneak peek into what’s next.  After seven days chock-full of shows, I’m ready to call it now: Fuchsia is going to be the color of Spring Summer 2018.  I saw this vibrant shade of pink in show after show, sometimes as an accent and sometimes worn head to toe.  I spotted it at my first show of the week, on a gorgeous Pamella Roland gown.

The hue was a bit more subdued on this Greta Constantine sequined jumpsuit (the only subdued thing about it!), but the head to toe paillettes still made quite an impact.

Fuchsia sequins made another appearance at the color-saturated Sachin & Babi show the next morning.  This glittery frock might be the most festive thing the New York City Bar Association (the non-traditional venue for the runway) has ever seen.

Fuchsia featured prominently at the Tracy Reese presentation, one of my standout shows of the season.  This wide leg pantsuit immediately has me wanting to add another statement suit to my growing collection.

I loved the colorblocking with a rich rust hue (and the inclusion of plus models, of course!)

This longline fuschia jacket might be my very favorite piece of this season – it has been one of the first things I’ve mentioned every time anyone has asked me about standout items.  The retro goodness of the dress to the left is a fantastic option if you aren’t ready to embrace head-to-toe color.

Leanne Marshall also used fuchsia in both her ethereal gowns and more structured pieces.

This statement suit from Rosario Dawson’s ethically-produced Studio 189 line was a fresh use of print, and would look just as amazing with a sharp heel as it does with laid back Chuck Taylors.

Johnson Hartig of Libertine rarely eschews shine, and the tonal glimmer on this a-line jacket felt right at home amongst his even flashier offerings.

Addition Elle’s show was a wear-now, buy-now fall collection, so it is unsurprising that the specific color of spring did not make an appearance.  This pinky bright-mauve velvet is a great way to give a nod to whats next now.

If you are ready to try the trend now, I’ve rounded up the best currently-available options in plus:

Also keep an eye on Premme for the second half of their Fall release – there is a spectacular fuchsia statement suit that I got a sneak peek of at Curvy Con.
