NYFW Day 6: Statement Suit

When I first started working on my Fall Trend Guide, the top look on my list was a statement suit.  This trend is huge for fall 2017, but I had a horribly hard time trying to find one in plus sizes.  Eloquii eventually stepped in and saved the day with a gorgeous floral print number, but I also bought this graphic print pant suit from Evans in the process.

Worn together, it is a serious statement look, so I knew it was going to be one of my NYFW outfits.

I paired it with my bustier from Bare Necessities.  This is the first bustier that has EVER fit me correctly, and my blogger friends almost universally commented on how great the fit and look of it was.  I was replying to every comment with a rave about how shockingly comfortable it is, and how impressive it was that the Bare Necessities “AmBrassador” got my perfect size for this from a PHONE FITTING (yes really).

I felt amazing and confident in this bustier, and the unique print and pretty details on my Cut for Evans suit (like the fuschia lining) added to the overall look.

I wore this suit for day 6, the day of the Addition Elle show.  This was the first major plus brand showing on the official New York Fashion Week schedule, and many important members of the plus fashion community were in attendance.  I walked over from the Torrid holiday preview with my girl Liz Black.

Very often street style photographers will ignore plus size women attending shows (as you might have noticed every time you see a Fashion Week roundup absolutely devoid of curves).  I’ve personally seen photographers eyes slip right over a plus woman in an amazing, fashion forward look to eagerly snap pictures of a tall thin white woman in the most basic jeans and tee.  So although I love bringing the LEWKS for fashion week, I had no expectations of being stopped for a snap, so I was pleasantly surprised when a photographer asked us for a picture.  Props to Chaz Langley for recognizing that style is not limited by size!

Langley turned out to be the first of many photogs that snapped me that day, which I hope is a sign of the changing times.  I haven’t gotten any of the other photos yet, but let me know if you see me floating around the internet!
