Cozy Holiday Goodness with Catherines

We are officially in the holiday season, and with the dipping temperatures and all the festive gatherings, my wardrobe starts to shift into cozy mode.  I want to be wrapped up in soft and fluffy goodness, so when I saw this reversible print ruana from Catherines, I knew I had to partner with them try it.

If you haven’t tried a ruana before (or have no idea what this word I keep using is!), it is something of a middle ground between a wrap and a poncho.  This one has a bit more structure than a poncho, with the faux leather trim on the front closure, and a big button to hold it in place.  Unlike a poncho, it has a front slit that you can wear open or closed.  I also love that it is fully reversible, so you can choose whether you want the large scale plaid or the smaller houndstooth check to be the star of the day.  Whatever you choose, the complementary pattern of the other side peeking out is so fun!

For a surprisingly chilly day in Baltimore (I hoped the weather would warm up as we drove South!), this thick knit kept me cozy. Holding a big mug of coffee in the morning while wearing this look gave me all the happy hygge vibes.  One thing to note: The warm fuzzies got a little literal with this piece – there was definitely some sweater fluff on my tank after a long day wearing this (probably because I forgot to follow my mom’s good advice of washing knits first to prevent fluff!)

Ruanas can be worn over most anything, but I paired with it ponte leggings and a stretchy tank for maximum comfort on a day that started with family visits and ended with a bunch of driving on the next leg of our roadtrip.  These Catherines leggings are a great staple, and thick enough to be totally opaque (no accidental see-through moments here!).  When worn with any top that covers the wide stretch waistband, they just look like a well-fitting pair of skinny pants.

I finished my monochrome look with these cute studded ankle boots.  I get questions about these every time I wear them, and a lot of people are surprised to learn that Catherines carries shoes!  I’m always on the lookout for good wide width options (every day my toes aren’t being squished is a good one), and a couple of my go-to pairs this season are from Catherines Good Soles collection.  The faux leather and the built in comfort insole made this pair clutch when my family asked us to go on an unexpected hike 🙂

P.S. There are options for all sorts of family holiday gatherings at Catherines right now!  This foil accent flounce hem floral dress is perfect for a more formal event, but still super comfortable:
