138 Stylish Plus Size Coats for a Warm 2024

After an uncharacteristically warm December, I was starting to wonder if we’d get through the winter without any bitterly cold temperatures. And then this week happened.

So now that we are well and truly in the depths of winter weather, I’ve gotten a bunch of reader requests for where to shop for the best plus size coats. I have an overarching plus size coat guide I wrote a couple years back, but I did a deep dive into the 2024 market over the last few days to round up all the best plus coats available to shop now. I found everything from deep winter-ready puffers and parkas to more versatile, layerable coats that can take you from mild winter weather to frigid temps with a cozy sweater underneath. I also found options for the burgeoning #mobwifewinter aesthetic, which is all about big hair, bold makeup, and realistic looking faux furs. The best part about this trend? Faux fur can be easily styled in many different ways, so when this aesthetic inevitably moves on in the next couple of years, you won’t have to hang up your cozy new coat.

A few more things to note:

  • Deep red, royal blue, and soft baby blue are all going to be trending throughout 2024, and a coat is a great way to get a lot of trend mileage out of one item.
  • When it comes to silhouette, longline is absolutely the way to go. If you don’t have a good calf length (or longer) coat in your wardrobe, I can personally attest to what a game changer it can be. You can wear it over the most casual look and it instantly elevates the vibe and makes you look sharper and more pulled together. For example, I’m currently wearing leggings, scrunch socks, platform sneakers, and a baseball cap, but when I put on my almost floor length coat, its like +20 style points.
  • Faux leather, satin, and lush faux fur are fabrics to keep an eye out for (climate depending, of course). A satin longline coat might just be the it item of 2024 (and I will absolutely be sharing when I find more options – right now this Karen Millen number is the only good one I’ve seen in plus!)

Tap through below to see the best options available now in each category, but keep in mind that although we are in the midst of winter, lots of retailers are already moving onto spring, so many coats are selling out now and will not be restocked.

Also, when scrolling, if you see something you like, I always encourage you to tap through to see the actual price, as many of these coats are part of big End of Season sales right now, and the take home price will be much less than the retail listed in the carousels:

As always, if you find something you love here and choose to shop, it is SO appreciated if you use my links/codes. It costs nothing, and supports the work I do here, allowing me to take time to do extensive guides and roundups like this one!

For the coldest winter days:

Longline classics:

Faux furs for #MobWifeWinter (and beyond!):

Outfit-making statement coats:

A few bonus picks that I can’t include in the carousels:

The most romantic puffers possible from Selkie (in sizes up to 6x!) My personal favorites are the bow-adorned Marshmallow Puffer styles, and the new a-line Confection Dolly Puffer. P.S. You can use my reader code CURVILY for a discount on Selkie’s site, and the code stacks with sales too!

If you prefer your puffers delightfully weird (but still very warm), I can’t recommend designer Rachel Antonoff enough. I have the Parker Puffer in the olive print, but it doesn’t stop there: The style is also available in a caviar tin print and a subtle toile print that actually features scenes from The Sopranos upon closer look.

An oversized puffer warm enough for all the Copenhagen cool girls from Ganni on major sale now (and a midi length option too)

This Nuuly-exclusive coat from Unreal Fur that is SUCH a fun statement piece. You can use my member referral link here to try it yourself at a discount. They also have Nuuly exclusives in plus from other fun brands like Rachel Antonoff and Show Me Your Mumu, so its worth a look if you want to try out new to you labels.

Update: Right after I posted the Reel below, the coat featured sold out (what timing!), so I’m including a few similar options below for anyone looking for a good red coat in plus sizes:
