Scalloped Shorts with Some Structure

I love summer in the city, but when temperatures start to stick in the the high 90’s, proactively cool dressing is required.  For a busy day of meetings and errands that also included a preview brunch at new restaurant Lumos Kitchen, I needed something lightweight and pulled together.  I was having a hard time deciding what to wear until I remembered I had just bought a pair of scalloped shorts on my last trip to Lane Bryant.

While I love a good pair of cutoffs, there is something so sharp about a well-constructed pair of shorts in a suiting material, and these are made just like Lane Bryant’s signature Allie Pant.  I love the high-waisted cut and the smooth, wide waistband that lays flat comfortably.  The subtle, tonal polka dot detail adds a little whimsy, as does the on-trend scalloped hem.

The perfect fit on these scallop hem shorts makes them easy to style – they would look just as amazing with a crisp white button down tucked in as they would with a simple crop top and sneakers.  They could even work for a creative office environment with a contrasting cropped blazer (this style of shorts comes in a longer cut if you are looking for more coverage too).

For my packed day, I decided to pair the shorts with a simple grey tank top and my go-to mules.  The marled top lends an athleisure vibe, but the shoes and bag are modern chic.  My new Trusst bra played a major role here too, with their unique cup structure keeping me lifted and supported so the clean waistband of the shorts could shine.  The overall look felt very me, and was supremely comfortable too.
