Trying the Trend: Extreme Flares

The return of flare leg pants is no news at this point, but the trend towards bigger (and better?) flares has continued.  The current exaggerated iteration of this silhouette basically amounts to two little high-low skirts on your calves, and I’ve been curious about how I’d wear it.  So when Macy’s reached out to me about trying out these over the top flares, I was all in.

This was my first time trying pants from INC International Concepts, so I wasn’t sure about sizing.  Usually I go up one for crepe pants, but these had some stretch and were roomier than expected, so I am going to order my usual 16W in INC trousers going forward.  I paired the of-the-moment red with burgundy – a color combo I’m loving right now.

Figuring out layering was a bit tricky for this look, as my initial thought was to wear a cropped jacket, but I ended up liking the flowy-on-flowy vibe instead.  This sheer pleated bottom blazer is a past-season Elvi favorite (and is currently only available in white), but anything longline hitting at or right above the knees would work here.  Once I sussed out the styling, I found myself loving these giant flares – and walking down the street in them was just so much fun!  This is a trend I can see myself wearing again and again.
