NYFW Day 3 OOTD: Layers, Textures, Color

For a day that included my perennial favorite show (Chromat) and the party I co-hosted for designer Jeff Cafone, I wanted to really go for it with my look.  Fortunately, I had a gorgeous statement piece from Universal Standard to build a look around.

I’ve had the Thames Fog dress from Universal Standard in black for a while now, and it is one of those pieces I reach for time and time again.  When I saw this vibrant blue at the last showroom event, I knew I had to expand my collection.

I love the idea of matching textures layered both over and under sheer fabric.  The vamp factor of the patent leather bra was tempered by the bright mesh while still providing the visual effect of the high shine material.

Layering a patent midi on top of the blue mesh and allowing just pop of the color to peek through at the bottom kept the hide and reveal theme throughout.

The fact that I had a perfectly matching blue lipstick from Chromat’s MAC collab really made the whole look serendipitous for attending the Chromat show.
