NYFW Day 1 OOTD: Vintage and Vintage Inspired
Weather has a way of helping the best laid Fashion Week outfit plans go astray, and this year was no different. The sporadic rain yesterday had me scrambling to find a last minute substitute look that would not get destroyed. Fortunately, my latest Gwynnie Bee box had something that sparked some inspiration.
One of the big trends for fall is Bedroom Dressing – typically silky slip dresses and the continuation of the fancy pajama trend. This navy satin wrap dress gave me vintage dressing gown vibes, and I decided to play up the silver screen boudoir vibes by wearing it over a strappy lace bra from Bare Necessities. This bra has been such a valuable addition to my wardrobe, by the way: It’s given me a pretty way to way pieces that otherwise would have been too low cut for comfort.
I paired the dress with black mules, multicolor vintage earrings, and the most gorgeous colorblocked snakeskin bag from Beirn. I got so many compliments on the bag throughout the day, and I was not surprised – it is even more beautiful in person. I actually had a couple of people ask if it was vintage, too, and was able to happily inform them that no, you can actually get one of your own!
