Casual Summer Goddess [Dress]

Sometimes, garment names imply a bit more than is necessary.  A “goddess” dress sounds like it is going to be an elaborate silky draped creation fit for a red carpet (or a very fancy toga party, at the least).  While you could certainly dress this lightweight chiffon goddess dress up for a more formal occasion (just add strappy heels and a minaudiere), it actually works just as well for a casual Sunday.

When NYC heats up, the accompanying humidity is inevitable (and inescapable) – which is why I am always on the lookout for light and airy pieces that don’t touch me too much.

The movement on this dress is amazing, needing only the lightest breeze to set the drapey outer layers aflutter (fortunately, the shorter base layer doesn’t share this propensity to fly up, and no Marilyn moments needed to be averted).

It also has a really pretty back detail where the outer draped layer connects.  (Sidenote: This would be best shown off with a strapless bra, but my go-to was in the laundry).

I paired this dress with flat sandals to keep the casual and comfortable vibe going.  With a straw hat and a graphic clutch, it was easy to make the goddess look daytime-ready.
