Cozy in the Snow

With the first snowfall of the season, winter is officially here!  I am not someone who loves winter as a season, and I know I’ll get sick of the snow in a matter of weeks, but there is an undeniable magic about the first snowfall draping the city in a blanket of white.

For our first foray into the snow, I bundled up in cozy cashmere and this year’s favorite combination of warm form + function, the puffer coat.  In this season’s color of choice, it is a statement in and of itself.

This puffer jacket is from H&M and doesn’t come in plus, but is very oversized – I ended up getting this one in a size 10 (three or four sizes from my usual 16/18 in coats).  Since this style goes up to a size 16, I’d say it could work for at least a size 22.  If you are looking for a larger size range (and an overall cooler cut), I highly recommend the Universal Standard “Kanda” wrap puffer coat.

To complete the bundling up, I decided to go with one of my favorite color combos right now: Bright red and hot pink.

This cute pom hat and gloves also have a matching scarf with a fun pom pom trim (which I own, but don’t usually need when I’m wearing this coat with a hood that doubles as a high collar).

A combination of two or three of these pieces together would make a great gift if you are looking for ideas!

If you want to go super-luxe with gifting, this Vince cashmere Fair Isle sweater is a great option.  It is amazingly soft and snuggly, and I was almost more excited about wearing it than the snow!

Vince unfortunately does not make plus sizes (ahem, #plussizeplease), but this style fit me perfectly in a large.  There are plenty of gorgeous Fair Isle sweater options in plus though, and I’ve rounded up some favorites below (starting at just $14!):
