OOTD: Spring Culottes

I got these fantastic culottes from Lane Bryant with the intention of wearing them to NYFW, but the freezing cold temperatures made that pretty much impossible – particularly because as soon as I put them on, I knew they were perfect for spring. Lightweight and structured, they are a great choice for a fashion forward office or upgraded casual look.

These pants are the Lena style, same as my favorite cobalt blue ones, but with a bit less volume in the leg. After playing with proportions a bit, I decided to go with longline pieces on the top to balance out the cropped pant length. My versatile Evolve top from Encircled and my best thrift find ever – a vintage camel wool Dior blazer from Housing Works – were just the right length together.  I loved the combination of neutrals, ans resisted the urge to add a pop of color to my look.  Instead, I finished it off with texture variety: High shine from my favorite (and very comfortable) black patent pumps, and mixed matte shine from a coated resin necklace from the NYC label Pono by designer Joan Goodman.  This is a serious statement piece – I got compliments all day on it – and it is so gorgeously made.  Everyone thought it had to be heavy, but because it is cast in resin, it is actually quite lightweight in a literal sense, but packs a heavyweight design punch.
