Review: Igigi’s Urban Jungle Collection
Animal print is on trend again this fall (which begs the question, when isn’t it?), so I was immediately drawn to this flowy animal print trench while perusing Igigi’s “Urban Jungle” collection. The pattern is oversized and a bit of a statement, but the palette means it can be worn like a neutral.
The weight of the trench is lightweight and perfect for early fall days (when you want to layer without broiling), or for those in warmer climates (something I’ll be envying as soon as the temps fall below 50 degrees in NYC). The flowy material and wrap shape makes a perfect fit easy. It still has all the classic features of a trench coat, including a double breasted collar and the signature storm patches in the front, giving it the illusion of structure despite the silky fabric.
For a more casual look, the trench also looks great tied at the back in a loose bow and worn open – giving it the same laid back feel of a kimono cardi, but fall-ready. I’ll be wearing it this way with a fitted black top, dark jeans, and oxblood booties.
Even though it will be part of my upcoming Fall Workwear guide, I can’t end this post without giving the perfect LBD I was wearing under the jacket its due. It is a substantial ponte knit, giving the dress a structured appearance without feeling restrictive. The classic sheath style, cut specifically for curves, makes this a truly timeless piece. The lace panel on the front is a pretty detail, without being too frou frou for even the most conservative of offices. With a sharp blazer, this would be courtroom ready. On its own, paired with my Miu Miu pumps, I felt chic, sexy, and powerful – ready to take on the world. A bit like Claire Underwood, but without the evil (always my sartorial goal for workwear). Highly recommended.
