Palette Love: Fuschia + Blush
It is no secret that I consider fuschia the color of 2018: I called it way back in September after the first few days of the Spring/Summer 18 NYFW shows, and have only strengthened my conviction in the hue since.
I’ve never been a huge pink person – nothing against the color, but it just wasn’t my thing (I’ve loved purple since I could first express preference as a little girl). So it is a bit surprising to me how much fun I’m having wearing this color trend. With its rich, saturated tone, fuchsia feels bold and strong; everything I look for in a statement color. I’ve realized there is another layer to my newfound love too: Wearing it proudly feels like a tiny act pushback against the traditional devaluation of anything considered feminine.
The moment I got this gorgeous Premme organza trench, I knew I wanted to keep the pink statement going. Pairing soft blush with saturated fuchsia just amps up the impact of both shades. It is also really visually pleasing – I felt amazing in this combo, and so many random people stopped to tell me they loved it too.
The effect was lost on Pan the Pup though (probably because she is colorblind to these shades!)
It is also a palette that can work for many different aesthetics, from athleisure to preppy to femme to sleek office chic. You can also vary the intensity of the combo: Start small by wearing mostly blush with some small fuschia accents (like a pair of simple strap block heels); or lean into it with head to toe fuschia and blush layers. I’ve rounded up some of the best blush and fuchsia pieces available in plus now, with items for every price point and occasion. Click through below to shop:
