A Twist on the Holiday LBD
Sequins and beading, rich reds, silver and gold: Some things just scream ‘holiday dressing.” I actually love going all in on party looks, but not every occasion calls for full-on holiday glam. Sometimes you want to look festive without looking like you got your color palette from the tree trimming aisle, but that doesn’t mean you want to blend in a forgettable black dress. My recommendation: Combine a little shimmer, fun details, and pops of non-traditional color to walk the fine line with aplomb.
I love the glimmer on this Catherine’s midi – the shiny fabric is as soft as a regular jersey, and feels just as good on the skin (no scratchy material here!) The asymmetrical hemline and cutout is right on trend (bonus points: the cutout is bra friendly!) I got low key disco vibes when I first put this dress on, so I decided to accessorize with a pyramid clutch and my favorite neon mules. The combination of sparkly sky blue and neon yellow is definitely not a traditional holiday palette, but I love the idea of adding an unexpected touch or two.
This LBD is also super versatile, and can easily go from festive to more laid back. I ended up taking it from a holiday-centric lunch date to the Prive Reveaux launch with the addition of my trusty All 67 leather moto and a monochrome bag.
I ordered this dress in 0X (sizing down one like I usually do with Catherines) and the fit was generally spot-on (just a smidge snug through the bust). If this is your first time ordering from Catherines, I suggest sizing down one from your typical number size in dresses.
