For the Fourth of July, I went with a subtle take on the  patriotic color scheme: Red (lipstick), white and blue (stripes).  We had a relatively laid back day, and headed downtown in the evening hoping to see the fireworks.

The rain ended up foiling our original plans, but we still had a great night together.  There is something magical about how empty the streets of NYC are on a holiday weekend.

The striped, voluminous dress was definitely the statement piece, but I wanted to keep my accessories fun and festive too.  I reached for my cheerful yellow bumblebee clutch, and added my glitter wedding flats for a little sparkle on my feet.
