OOTD: Spring in Winter

I’m loving the Pantone colors of 2016: Rose Quartz, a warm pale pink, and Serenity, a cool light blue.  This is the first time I can recall that Pantone has picked a pair of colors for Color of the Year, but this is a great combination to do so for.  Together, they are evocative of of a prismatic sunset sky, and they are classically perfect for spring.  That didn’t stop me from wearing it with snow on the ground, though.  Keep reading for how to style a light, springy item for winter.

First, I paired it with a fur vest – one of this winters biggest trends.  Just throwing one on goes a long way to transitioning a springy piece for colder days.   The grey faux fur drew out the accent color in this Junarose tunic dress, and added some practical warmth that can comfortably be layered under my warmest coat (no sleeve bunching!).  I added faux leather leggings and Chelsea boots, and a wide brim hat to balance out the black – without it, the boots and leggings drew the eye down and took the focus off the look as a whole.  My tip: Step back from the mirror and squint a bit (or just take off your glasses if you are a blind as me!) to see if there is any hue in your outfit that seems out of place.
