Lookbook Love: Mei Smith

One of the things I am really loving about the growth of plus fashion is the increase of options. There are designers and brands catering to a variety of aesthetics and budgets.  But one style was underrepresented in plus: Minimalism.  Sure, there are a lot of *basic* pieces out there, but barring personal favorite Carmakoma, there was nothing of the caliber of Helmut Lang or T by Alexander Wang. Ayanna Wu, founder of new store Mei Smith, saw that void in plus and set out to fill it.  In addition to Carmakoma, she found independent American straight size designers that fit the style, like Benjamin Jay, Shainna Mote, and Hackwith Design House, and convinced them to grade their patterns up to do plus sizes.  The result is one of the coolest plus size lookbooks I’ve seen in a while.  I’ve included the entire thing below, because I truly can’t pick favorites.  I love the minimal athleisure vibe of the shoot.
