Despite the Spring/Summer fashion we are looking at on the runways, SS15 fashion week street style is usually all about fall.  So when we had a ridiculous heat wave for the first half of NYFW, all my autumnal, layered outfit ideas went out the window, and I was left feeling somewhat uninspired.  And then!  On Friday night, after 7 shows in a day, I arrived home to find a package from indie designer Liesl Binx, and suddenly felt re-energized.  I was so excited it arrived in time! Her AW14 collection is one of my absolute favorites, and this sheer organza tank dress has such a fashion forward, ethereal yet edgy feel to it.

The combination of a loose shift dress and sheer fabric highlighted my figure in a way that was provocative but not obvious – I would not wear the accompanying tube skirt and top on its own, but together with the dress it was perfection.  The quality was also fantastic, as my blogger babes can attest to – I got more outfit love from fellow bloggers for this look than any other in my career, and every one I talked to was impressed with the fabric and cut.

I wore this look to a day of plus size fashion events (the NY Curvy Closet Sale and Plus Night Out), as well as the Herve Leger show at Lincoln Center.  Watching a parade of bandage dresses come down the runway at MBFW, I was very happy that the plus size designer I was wearing was not just following old trends, but setting them.   This type of edgy, interesting fashion in plus is what I’ve dreamed of, and it is now a reality.  I am so excited to see what Liesl Binx has in store for Spring, and looking forward to styling this dress for cold weather as well – you will be seeing this again!
