Summer Stretch with Lane Bryant

When I first started blogging almost six years ago, I got a lot of questions about Lane Bryant jeans.  Back then, the fit did not work for me at all.  Fortunately, Lane Bryant did a complete overhaul of their denim a couple of years ago, and introduced their core Super Stretch Skinny:

As soon as I tried this fit on, I was hooked.  The cut feels like it was made for me, and the stretch makes them so comfortable. They also run true to your usual size (not the sized up denim-size so many of us have!), i.e. I’m a 16/18 and usually get 18 in denim, but I always go with a 16 in Super Stretch).  I’ve been wearing the Super Stretch style consistently for years now, and the pairs I’ve picked up often end up on my lists of go-to pieces in my wardrobe.  When I saw that they launched new Super Stretch styles with Cool Max technology built in for the summer, I knew I had to grab a pair.

This lightly distressed and faded pair of black denim is super lightweight, and cool enough to wear on the hottest summer days (I actually think they feel better than shorts sometimes, because I don’t have to deal with sticky legs touching each other, and the sweat-wicking tech keeps me from overheating).

Paired with a statement sleeve off the shoulder topon-trend mules, and a classic pair of cat eye sunglasses, this is a perfect summer weekend look.  If you are looking to add a little edge, go for the smaller-framed exaggerated cat eye look.

As I learned from their fall preview, Lane Bryant is committed to continue pushing the plus denim envelope when it comes to quality, which is why they are launching their new Ultimate Stretch Skinny style.  I got to test out a fit sample, and I am super impressed with the construction and fabrication.  The head of product from LB was notably genuinely enthused when she talked about how the  Ultimate Stretch blend is the same as that used in designer denim in straight sizes (the types that typically retail for $200+ per pair).  She was so excited to bring that type of quality to plus, and at a significantly lower price point.  After getting a chance to wear it myself, I see why.  The full Ultimate Stretch collection drops this fall, but they are previewing a few styles now with their Ultimate Stretch Fast Lane collection, which includes the classic dark wash skinny that I tried, along with some trendier styles like a tuxedo stripe pair and colored denim in rich rose and wine hues.  I have a feeling I’m going to be building a collection of Ultimate Stretch styles soon!
