80+ Pretty Plus Size Spring Dresses
I’m not new around here. When the weather warms up wonderfully in March, I know it might be Fool’s Spring, and could be gone in days. But knowing that I still have a possibility of cold weather ahead of me doesn’t stop me from sartorial spring dreaming – if anything, it’s just the opposite. I already have the cozy coats and sweaters to take me through any lingering winter weather, so now it’s time to get excited for warmer days. The trends this season are fun ones too: From bright monochrome to 70’s inspired fringe to psychedelic swirls, it is shaping up to be an exciting spring for dresses.
One dress I’ve just been WAITING to wear is this gorgeous maxi wrap dress from plus model Maxey Greene’s new collab with Baacal by Cynthia Vincent. The price point is more affordable than the main Baacal collection, all while keeping the brand hallmarks of being sustainably and ethically made. The maxi length is very on-trend for 2022, and all three prints are available in sizes 10-28. I’m also a huge fan of Baacal’s bias cut slip dresses, and the new convertible neckline options in both mini and midi lengths are calling to me.
Another big trend for the season is retro 60’s and 70’s vibes – what Bazaar is calling the Laurel Canyon Kid look. This fringe number is perfect for 2022’s take on the luxe hippie aesthetic, and it is a steal at only $22.
Leota is one of my top recommendations for workwear dresses, and their spring collection has some new silhouettes that seem prime for work to weekend wear. This olive swing number is the perfect piece to transition from now to later: Now, with tights and chunky sole boots; later, with an ankle wrap espadrille (and a big straw hat if I’m feeling extra beachy). I also love that they are using #visiblyplussize model babe Lynley Eilers in their spring campaign – I want to see this from more brands, TBH!
If you are looking for designer plus dresses, 11 Honore is a great place to start (and this Baja East caftan is SO GOOD!)
If you’ve been loving the ornate cottage core/Bridgerton aesthetic lately, you’ll be happy to know that this romantic trend is still going strong for 2022. In my opinion, there’s no one that does it better than Selkie, the creator of the iconic Puff Dress. I have a couple of their dresses now, and every time I put one on, I immediately feel like the main character, in the very best way. I got together with my friend Maia to shoot last week and we both felt amazing in our Selkie dresses. If you are eyeing one of your own, I recently joined their partner program so I can get a discount code for my readers, so you can use this link and the code CURVILY to get 10% off orders over $100.
Selkie sizing tip: Each dress style has its own sizing chart, and some (like the Puff) are almost entirely dependent on bust measurements. Always check and measure before ordering!
