OOTD: Hot Weather and Warm Tones
Even though it is somehow in the 40s for the first couple days of June (???), just last Friday it was undoubtedly summer. With temps almost twice what they are this morning, I dressed to stay cool. I love the look of oversized tops and short shorts for hot weather. This flowy tunic from Nic + Zoe is a piece I was unsure of when I saw it online, for a couple of reasons: 1) I wasn’t sure if the boxy cut would work on me, and 2) I rarely wear warm earthtones – my skin has super pink undertones, and I tend to dislike the contrast of warm tones. But I liked the print and the lightweight chiffon, so I decided to take my own advice and just try it on. One of my favorite parts of Gwynnie Bee is that I can try something totally risk free – if I don’t like it, I just pop it in the free return bag and get something new. As so often is the case, though, the piece I was unsure of ended up being one I loved.
I paired the tunic with cutoffs and gladiator sandals (one of the key shoe trends for the summer – check out my story on pages 70-71 this month’s Plus Model Magazine for three other hot styles to add to your wardrobe). If you are unsure about the gladiator sandal trend, just go for a lace up style – it looks current, not costumey.
