OOTD: Slow Spring

This has been a trying Spring – the fact that it snowed on the official first day of the season really tells you all you need to know.  But before that soul-crushing bit of weather irony occurred, we had our first truly nice day of the year: Temps hit 60, and New Yorkers flocked to Central Park (myself included).  My husband and I got gelato from the delicious but overpriced Grom (I highly recommend the Salted Caramel), and happily walked through the park with snow still melting around us.

A scene from our walk

I was a bit more done up than I would usually be for a walk in the park, but that was because I’d had a busy day – one that included my first appearance on TV!  I was a model for a day for a segment on #CurveConfidence hosted by prominent plus stylist Denise Caldwell.  I wore a Fashion to Figure monochrome floral peplum dress and a soft moto jacket from Kohls (really!).  For someone who is usually bare faced, the TV makeup was a big change, but it was a fun experience.

The curly hair was perfect for the cheerful mood of the first nice day of the year.  I also went full Spring with my own outfit. I’ve been dying to wear this Carmakoma top ever since I saw it at the SS15 preview, so of course I wore it the first chance I got.  I love how it looks paired with their own jeans (check out #MyCarmakomaJeans to see more now, and I’ll be posting about mine soon!), but I wanted to keep the entire palette springy to celebrate the weather. My new jeans from Fashion to Figure are light in both color and weight, and the purposefully unrolled hem added a modern touch.  I am also really loving what FTF is doing with denim right now.  The fit is true to size, and the price point is super affordable.  I finished off the look with my beloved cat flats and my blush bag from Rebecca Minkoff (read more about it here).
