About Me

Hi! I’m Sarah, a body-positive style blogger. I live in NYC with my husband and our adorable adopted dog #panthepup. I started Curvily over eight years ago when I realized how powerful seeing other stylish plus size babes living their lives happily could be – it literally changed my life and the way I felt about my own body. I wanted to be a part of that and hopefully help others too, so I made a Tumblr page to share my #OOTDs and have been posting ever since.

I’m super into the *community* aspect of the plus community – I absolutely love my community of reader babes here, and I also founded @newyorkcityplus for IRL community events (which will be happening again as soon as it is safe!)

I LOVE fashion, and am all about pushing the plus industry forward. I created the #plussizeplease movement in 2014 as a way for plus shoppers to directly express the demand for more and better options to brands, and I also do work behind the scenes as a consultant to help brands who want to expand their size range best serve plus size customers.

I also aim to be a resource for my readers, offering practical shopping tips, deal alerts, fit information, and features like my #inthefittingroom series to help people see how plus brands fit on a 5’4” plus size body with boobs and a belly. I chat with my readers in Instagram DMs a lot too, so feel free to reach out if you have a specific question or need help finding something!

A little visual reminder that sizes are made up an A little visual reminder that sizes are made up and arbitrary 💕 And I’m *always* going to prioritize plus and size inclusive brands, but with stores closing and brands taking their plus off the shelves, I think it makes sense to share some options I’ve gotten to try that could work in a pinch if you need to pop in a store to shop off the rack. Let me know how you feel about this content occasionally - and I do mean OCCASIONALLY: It’s been a whole year since I posted the last version lol.

And yes, I have been living in my Birks this summer - #plantarfasciitis girlie here! 🤪

I heard Jillian Michaels was being a bigot again, I heard Jillian Michaels was being a bigot again, so it feels like the perfect time to run this one back (from 2021). It’s no surprise this woman is vile, but her consistency in defending both fatphobia and racism is a STRONG reminder of how closely those two things are related. Don’t be like this bigot; treat your fellow humans with respect and decency.

Clips are from the CBS Reports documentary “Speaking Frankly | Fat Shaming” (which you can find accompanying the article “The racial origins of fat stigma” by Taylor Mooney, interviewing Dr. Sabrina Strings).
