OOTD: Shapes and Scaffolding
For my first full day of NYFW shows, I was feeling inspired by structure and shapes. I loved how the angles of the checked short sleeve sweatshirt contrasted with the curved contour of the leather peplum and grommet skirt. Snapping an OOTD pic under a scaffolding was an unconscious decision, but unsurprising in retrospect, as this was just after the MADE Fashion week Chromat show, and Becca McCharen has explicitly referenced this NYC construction constant in her designs.
This top is from Tibi, one of the designers I frequently tag with #plussizeplease. Their fashion forward contemporary pieces are just my style, so I was delighted to discover that this straight size top worked for me – this is why I always stress the importance of trying things on if possible. Don’t let the number on the label dictate whether you give it a short – hold it up to your body, feel the material for stretch and weight, and if it seems like it might work, give it a shot.
