64 Cozy Plus Size Sweaters to Snuggle Up In In 2022
I’m not a cold weather girl – a fact that sometimes confuses people when they find out I’m originally from Michigan. I usually get some variation of “but you must LOVE winter!” in response. Nope. Not at all. If anything, the first decades of my life being filled with 4-6 months of lake effect snow a year made it very clear that I thrive in warmer weather. And yet, somehow, I still ended up in a place where winter is very much a thing! I absolutely love NYC though, so even when our winters are on the horribly cold and snowy side (like this year), I’m going to stick it out – I just have to have the proper armor for it.
A warm winter coat is a non-negotiable, of course, but when it is this cold, the cozy needs to come in layers. So this is sweater season, and I’ve been shopping accordingly.
I just got my big order of sweaters from Dia & Co. in last weekend, and I immediately pulled out this abstract zebra intarsia knit from Madewell. It sold out before I could snag it on Madewell’s site, so I was so happy to see it both in stock and on sale at Dia.
Dia has a good selection of sweaters and cardigans in sizes up to 5x right now too, with a lot of cute ones on sale (try code WINTER50 for an extra markdown). I’m actually wearing this sweet dot-striped sweater right now as I type this (only $15 after the extra 50% off!)
Nordstrom also has a really great variety of plus size sweaters in stock right now too, from budget-friendly BP options to luxurious cashmere blends from Vince:
The landscape print mini-trend is definitely gaining traction, so I snapped up this cute Wild Fable pullover the moment I saw it online:
It looks like a lot of other plus babes had the same idea, as it is selling out fast, but I’ve included other similar sweater options in the carousel below.

A rich hue in a warm knit is something you can wear year after year. Neutrals are also showing no signs of going away, so whatever solid shade you find yourself being drawn to is a good bet.

Whether you wear them the traditional way or on their own as a top, cardigans are undeniably having a moment.
A couple of bonus picks from indie designer faves:
New plus-owned label Shiny by Nature is already making a name for themselves with their unique and cozy knitwear. I’m currently eyeing this precious falling hearts sweater and their fun wave sweater vest.
It’s no secret that I love Baacal – this sustainably and ethically made designer plus size label is exactly what I was wishing for when I created #plussizeplease, and my Baacal pieces are all treasured items in my wardrobe. This oversized grandpa cardigan is next up on my wishlist:
