Head to Toe Lane Bryant for Day 1 of NYFW

This post is sponsored by Lane Bryant. All thoughts and opinions my own, as always!  Every year, my outfit planning for February Fashion Week is a mix of excitement and dread.  The former is for the chance to really go all out with my looks, while the latter is purely weather based: I’ve had *many* a NYFW outfit blocked or ruined by unexpected snow or sleet, and because I’m neither rich or famous, having someone driving me door to door just isn’t an option.  I spend NYFW walking and sometimes literally running from show to show, so all my looks need to combine both form and function.  I was not looking forward to being forced to dress for bleak winter weather when I’m already in a spring fashion mindset, so when I saw the unseasonably warm 50+ degree forecast for Day 1 of the shows, I knew it was time to carpe diem and wear this gorgeous Lane Bryant look while I had the chance.

I built my outfit around this stunning blue lace trench coat.  I fell hard and fast for this piece the minute I saw it online, and it is even better in person.  The fit is true to size, too – I ordered a 14/16 and it accommodated my bust comfortably.

With classic trench styling and pretty lace panels on both sides and down the arms, it is a serious statement piece, and the type of light and airy outwear that you can wear well into the summer.  I’m not going to wait that long – I actually have plans to wear it on colder day soon, adding warmth by layering it over a contrasting bold color sweater.

For the surprisingly warm first day of Fashion Week, though, I paired it with another Lane Bryant spring favorite: This pretty multi-color polka dot dress.

Although it kind of looks like white polka dots online, it is actually a whimsical mix of white, lavender, and baby blue dots.  That palette made it a natural partner for the lace trench, and I kept the color story going with my bag and my new favorite pair of white boots (also from Lane Bryant!)

I got these ankle boots just before Fashion Week, and I ended up wearing them with so many of my looks.  They are wide width, comfortable, and super stylish – just that magic mix of form and function that I was talking about!  They also added a little fashion edge to this otherwise super sweet dress.  I love all the pretty romantic details on this floaty chiffon number, from the fun sleeve ruffles to the off the shoulder neckline.

I finished off my look with sunglasses – pretty much de rigueur for street style – and with their slight purple hue, this exaggerated heart shaped pair was the perfect match.

Altogether, it was a look that was fun, fashionable, and on-trend for spring.  I love that Lane Bryant’s fashion focused offerings have been getting better and better recently, and this full LB outfit just shows that you shouldn’t overlook this classic plus brand when it comes to trends.  Even traditional street style photographers (who have long been reluctant to recognize plus style) stopped me on the street to take my picture.  Better yet, my outfit was named one of the best plus looks at NYFW by Teen Vogue!  Mission fab fashion week street style accomplished 🙂
