Stripes and Silk: A Sneak Peek of New Plus Label Maree Pour Toi

I am always so excited to see new brands launching in plus.  There are still so many major gaps in the market, especially in the higher end contemporary space (i.e. brands like Kate Spade, Rebecca Minkoff, and Rag & Bone).  So when I spotted new plus size label Maree Pour Toi on Instagram, I was immediately curious.

Last week I got a chance to visit their press day in their Garment District office, and I went in expecting a small 12-14 piece collection for the launch.  I was incredibly pleasantly surprised to see a gorgeous and very comprehensive 80 piece Fall/Winter collection, with more things catching my eye than I could carry.  The quality of the materials was readily apparent (it is all too rare to see gorgeous silk shirts in plus, for example).  I did an #inthefittingroom series (using an office to change!) so I could test out the fit.

I was even more pleasantly surprised with how spot on the fit and construction of Maree Pour Toi is.  Per their size chart, I am a size 18, and almost every piece fit true to size.  Their structured red jumpsuit looked like it was custom made for me.  Check out my Maree Pour Toi #inthefittingroom IG Story highlight on my Instagram page to see more of the launch collection in motion.

I left wanting to own most of their inaugural line, and had such a hard time choosing what to shoot for this post.  I ended up being swayed by the 70’s vibes of these striped wide leg pants.

This silk top was actually made to be a layering piece (and would look amazing under a suit jacket), but I love the look of it on its own.  The quality is so incredible – it feels just like the luxe silk vintage pieces my Grama had when I was a kid, not the flimsy silk I see so often now.  I actually was so inspired by this memory that I found this vintage gold clutch my Grama gave me, and added vintage drop earrings.  I styled it with slicked back, wet-look hair to amp up the 70’s disco glam aesthetic.

I felt amazing in this look (I wasn’t just smiling because of the puppy snoot photobomb here!), and ended up wearing it to my friend Carolina Vazzana’s launch party for her book Making it in Manhattan.

In a room full of fashion industry babes, it was amazing to be able to wear gorgeous, on-trend, luxe clothing in my size.  I got a ton of compliments on my look, and I can’t wait to wear more Maree Pour Toi pieces.  They are soft launching at the Curvy Con, and I will be hosting a party during NYFW to celebrate.  If you will be in town, message me to let me know and I can send you an invite!  If you aren’t around, don’t worry, they are launching online in early September – watch this blog for more 🙂
