Luxe Dressing with Sika Collection

I am always so excited to hear of a new brand in plus, and the minute I saw Sika Collection’s gorgeous dresses on Instagram, my interest was piqued.  The quality construction and attention to detail was apparent even in photos, so I immediately wanted to learn more.

The ethereal Charlotte Dress

When I met with Sylvia Zeldin, the woman behind the brand, I loved hearing her mission of empowering women, but the clothes themselves were so good that had a hard time not just fawning over the beautiful dresses.  I kept touching the luxurious fabrics and creating multiple different outfits in my head for each style.  Sika’s inaugural collection resides in that sweet spot between soon-to-be-dated trends and so-classic-its-boring.  Sika’s dresses all feel timely today, but will be just as fab and relevant when you reach for them in a year or three.

The updated sheath Shirley dress

Their first collection ranges from sleek LBDs to pretty occasion-wear (the Nicolette dress could even be a beautiful twist on a wedding dress!).  Staying true to my personal aesthetic, I ended up choosing the dresses that fit best with my downtown style:

The Modern Leather Dress

The Sasha dress caught my eye immediately.  The leather is so soft and supple, and the shape was clearly constructed with curves in mind.

The thick fabric on the side looks like a purposeful part of the design (because it is!), and thus gives the freedom if movement of stretch without looking like an afterthought (as almost every other mixed media leather dress tends to).  Perfect for strutting around downtown 🙂

I honestly couldn’t stop talking about this dress to my friends for days after wearing it.  Everything from the waist hugging cut to the stud details to the curved hemline had me smitted.  It is so wonderful to have a fashionable, interesting leather dress that is actually made for my body type – it makes all the difference.

I paired the Sasha dress with trendy white boots and a sweet and quirky crossbody bag from Min & Mon to up the cheek of the look.  I found this dress true to size, and with the luxurious lining, it felt amazing on too!

The Pretty-Not-Precious Pastel

The gorgeous lilac hue of the Stella dress was one of those colors I loved from afar, thinking it wouldn’t work on me.  Sylvia encouraged me to try it on, and I am so glad I did!

The minute I slipped this style on, I fell in love.  The color actually complements my rosy undertones beautifully, but that was just the beginning: The artful draping and asymmetric pointed hemline immediately made me feel both stylish and pretty (without feeling cutesy or twee).

I love the look of lilac and red together (great minds think alike – Sylvia used this pairing on her Stella campaign shot as well!), so I went with a bold orangey hue to pump up the saturation.

I actually loved the cut of the Stella so much that I ended up getting it in white as well – keep an eye out on Instagram to see how I style it soon!  I sized down one size in this style for a more form-fitting look, so order your usual size if you prefer a drapier fit.

The Dream Little Black Dress

If you asked me to conjure up the perfect LBD, it would look just like this.  Structured, asymmetrical, sexy, and fashion forward.  This was the first Sika Collection dress I swooned over online, and it more than exceeded my expectations when I got it on.

I feel like an absolute bombshell in the Victoria, and I literally orchestrated a date night with my husband as soon as I got it (he agreed that it is seriously hot).

The material of the Sika Victoria dress has a good amount of structure to it, and the below-knee hem visually lengthened my short stature.

I sized down one in the Victoria dress, again because I wanted it to hug my curves.  My friend tried it on in her regular size, and when it is a bit looser, the leg slit is less pronounced and it gives strong minimal runway vibes.  Either way, this dress is a guaranteed compliment machine – I had more people tell me they loved my dress in one day than I could count!

All of these dresses wear well and feel great on – even after a full day in each one I felt sharp and pulled together (no rumpling here!)  Given how much I love these three, I have no doubt I’ll be adding more Sika Collection pieces to my wardrobe going forward.  I’m so happy so have luxurious plus size options like these, and the fashion industry is taking notice too – Sika was just featured in Yahoo today.
