New Staple: Creative Shirting

We all know we need a good white button down in our closet – it may be the most frequently mentioned wardrobe staple.  There’s a reason for that: When I finally found a well-fitting classic shirt (the Ebro from Universal Standard), I realized just how many different ways I can wear it.  So when I started to see creative twists on the classic silhouette, I knew I had to expand my collection.

This asymmetric shirt from Eloquii has a distinctly fashion-forward feel, and the one shoulder detail is right on trend for the season.

Layered under a blazer, this could work for even the most conservative office, but worn on its own, it is truly a statement piece.  I was heading to an art opening for the Elomi Portrait Project, so I paired it with leather pants (another fall trend) and neon mules for a downtown vibe.  I actually ended up wearing my strapless bra from Elomi to the event without even thinking about the brand – it is just the most comfortable one I own.  Altogether, the look felt very *me*, and I love that these types of pieces are available in plus and cut to fit curves.

Outfit details:
