My Perfect Statement Fur
There’s nothing like the feeling of an outfit that is just perfectly *you.* I first spotted this coat when I interviewed some of my favorite plus brands about their favorite pieces for fall for Plus Model Magazine. Designer Rachel Roy picked this faux fur coat for the vintage glam vibes, saying “I can’t wait to get my hands on it and channel my own inner Ava Gardener.” I immediately loved it too, but my first thought was the street style potential. Statement furs are everything this season, and I started dreaming up outfits right away.
Yesterday was the first day cold enough to break out the fur, and that fact managed to make me excited about the dropping temps (a true testament to how much I love this piece!) I styled it for a day in the Lower East Side, with an all black look with white accents.
My new colorblock bag picked up on the white stripes in the fur, and my favorite leather Chelsea boots had just the right look. Altogether, it just felt very *me* and I loved it.
That ‘everything feels right’ sense just increased when I found a piece of street art by one of my favorite artists, Shantell Martin, while walking from the coffee shop to happy hour. Don’t be surprised if you see me in this wonderful coat a lot this season.
