Fall in the City with Ellos
There’s nothing like a crisp fall day in NYC. I’ve been waiting for weather cool enough to wear this classic camel coat since I first spotted it on Ellos.
Ellos is one of my go-tos for modern staples with a bit of Swedish minimalism. With the exception of the bag, everything in this outfit is Ellos, and each piece is so versatile. On its own, the striped turtleneck is just as timeless as the camel coat, and the light weight and longer length make it great for layering. I did a partial tuck to give it a more casual feel.
For a more downtown vibe, I paired the stripes and camel with ripped knee black denim and my favorite pointed leather Chelsea boots.
When it comes to structured wool coats, fit is everything. I often have issues with either the bust being too tight or the waist being too big, but the construction and fit of this Ellos coat is impeccable. Buttoned up, it accentuated my shape and generally just felt sharp. I know I’ll be reaching for this piece again and again as temperatures continue to dip.
I was lucky to be able to spend a chill weekday with my husband, as he was on vacation. We went to one of our favorite spots in Nolita, Fiat Cafe.
The atmosphere feels authentically European, and the food is delicious. Fiat Cafe also offers brunch every day until 4:00 pm (!!), which was perfect when Nigel wanted French toast and I wanted pasta.
The French toast had a hint of Tiramisu flavor, but my Balsamic Sage Brown Butter Ricotta Ravioli was the hands down winner of the meal. In fact, it is one of my very favorite pasta dishes in NYC, and an absolute steal at $9.50. It is even worth the slight hassle of them being cash-only (there is an ATM downstairs though, so only slight).
For warmer Fall days, Fiat Cafe has sidewalk seating (great for people- and dog-watching), but the big windows let the light in and keep it bright and sunny inside too.
After lunch, we strolled around Nolita a bit, and of course I was drawn to the fall flowers.
The weather was perfect and we were feeling ambitious, so we decided to walk down to Ground Central at the southern tip of Manhattan. Our path took us down a street we’ve never walked on before, and under the Brooklyn Bridge. #inadvertentmatching
By the time we got down to Ground Central, I was ready to cozy up in one of their leather armchairs and do some blogging with one of their classic lattes.
This Ellos look was everything I needed for lovely day in the city. With a red lip and bag, it all felt chic and pulled together while still being very *me* – and I’ll wear every single piece again. The pieces are great quality, especially for the lower price point, and everything is true to size once you check their size chart.
