The New Universal Standard Geneva Fog Dress

When asked about my favorite plus sized labels, Universal Standard is always on the list. Their high quality staples and fashion forward aesthetic made them a game changer when they debuted a few years back, and they’ve only improved with time. There are very few brands that I trust enough to say I’d wear anything from them, but US has made the cut.
One of their original styles was the Geneva tee dress, which I loved the moment I put it on. The asymmetrical draping and gathering makes the otherwise casual jersey dress a showstopper, and the soft fabric makes it perfect for traveling. Since I tried my first one through Gwynnie Bee, it has become one of the very favorite things I own – it even warranted a spot in my tiny carry on for our Europe trip last year. When I heard Universal Standard was launching a sheer version of this magical piece, I knew I had to have it.
I resisted the urge to get it in black (that NYC stereotype certainly has a grain of truth!) and went for this vibrant turquoise-blue instead. For an unseasonably warm October day spent meeting up with blogger babes, I paired it with a strappy black bralette, leather pants, and menswear-inspired perforated creepers. This is my first pair of real leather pants, and I didn’t account for the natural stretch during wear – I sized up when I didn’t need to as these got looser as the day went on. Fortunately, looser leather pants are actually a trend for Fall 2017, so I’ll still be wearing these again.
I had a blast shooting in the West Village after lunch with babe Alex Michael May. Fall in the city is one of my favorite things (even if the weather wasn’t exactly autumnal).
I am also seriously loving this Geneva Fog dress – I have so many ideas for how to style and layer it. If you are on the fence about this piece, I recommend taking the plunge. It is so worth it.
