Everything old is new again, so I shouldn’t be surprised that this 80’s phenomenon is trendy, but I have to admit I never anticipated the return of stirrup leggings.  Now that they’ve arrived though, I had to give them a shot, and ended up surprising myself with how much I like them.

Lane Bryant sent me this look to try from an upcoming Fast Lane collection, and I was a little skeptical when I pulled the stirrups out of the box.  But the minute I put them on, I was a convert.  The fit is perfection, and make my short legs look loooong.

They are also totally opaque (none of that dreaded see-through), and I have to admit: I love the way my butt looks in them.

I paired them with a structural pair of mules to show off the strappy detail.  I’ve also seen these worn over heeled boots, so I might have to give that styling trick a shot next.  If you are feeling less adventurous, these would also be amazing to wear tucked into boots – no riding up to worry about!

This double bell sleeve sweater is also from Lane Bryant‘s upcoming Fast Lane collection, and though there are a lot of design elements (perforated yoke, bell sleeves, stripes), it somehow doesn’t feel too busy.  Paired with the stirrups and white sunglasses, I had a retro-modern look that I felt great in.
