Modern Art Midi

Its no secret that I love my Gwynnie Bee subscription – it allows me to try new styles without commitment, and get an amount of variety in my wardrobe that would otherwise break the bank. Sometimes, however, it feels like the GB buyers read my mind. The moment I saw this midi dress from Rachel Roy, I had to have it. My budget couldn’t accommodate a $125 dress at the time, though, so I sadly had to let it go. But then! The next day, I saw it in the upcoming GB New Arrivals, and I did a little happy dance (literally).

When I got the dress, it was everything I hoped it would be. It is basically a piece of modern art with a minimalist, fashion-forward cut. I particularly love the dramatic draping in the back, and the asymmetric low-high hemline (the inverse of what you usually see). Rachel Roy is fast becoming one of my favorite brands, as she is not afraid to include these types of cool details that many designers (incorrectly) assume plus women don’t want.
