Styling an LBD for Spring
The moment I saw this midi dress, I knew I had to have it. One can never have too many good LBDs, after all! I love the pretty scallop hem detail – a subtle twist on the classic silhouette. The fit is spot on, and the scuba-esque fabric provides the perfect combination of structure and stretch. The wide straps are bra friendly, which I always appreciate, though I didn’t have to utilize that feature this time. That is right – I’ve found a strapless bra that actually works for me.
The lift from this Curvy Couture strapless bra is great, and somehow manages it without pain (which is truly miraculous in my case!)
The straps on this pretty LBD are removable, as well, so you can get two dress styles in one. I love the square neckline from the wide straps, but wearing it strapless would lend a more formal vibe – perfect for a wedding or gala with a serious statement necklace.
For our date night, I chose to add some sparkle with my accessories. This floral embellished bag is basically jewelry in your hands. The geometric gold heel on my Frances Valentine sandals add some architectural interest, and the green patent picks up the subtle green crystal accents in the clutch.
If you aren’t yet familiar with Frances Valentine, you likely know the designer behind it: Kate Valentine, formerly Kate Spade. She sold her original namesake brand in 2007, and launched this new eponymous venture in 2016 after officially changing her name to Valentine. Frances Valentine is a reflection of Kate’s aesthetic today: Less kitschy and more high end.
I felt amazing in this dress styled for a spring night, but this versatile style will work for all seasons.
