OOTD: Caped Blazer

I’ve been longing for a caped blazer for ages, and I finally found the one for me from Fashion to Figure.  On a cool fall Saturday, I paired it with a bold print bodysuit (another big trend for the season) and my favorite black pants from Harper & Liv for a modern spin on the suit.

I couldn’t help but feel a little bit like a superhero with the wind catching my cape, and I loved it.  The classic black blazer is such a timeless piece – add some drama and movement to it, and I am sold!  Apparently I’m not the only one, because this Fashion to Figure jacket is currently sold out online [Edit: They restocked it!!!!], but keep an eye out for it in stores, or check out similar options here and here.

The bodysuit is from Dearcurves, the plus size label from designer Linda Adegwu.  This piece is inspired by traditional wax print, transferred onto an easy to wear stretch fabric.  Bold patterns like this are a personal favorite of mine, but I always want to support designers who are part of the culture the prints hail from – not some weird Urban Outfitters appropriative crap.  The quality of this piece is great too – I’d just recommend to size up one if you are busty.

While some people are very anti-shoulder pads, I love the definition they bring to the silhouette.  These sleek black pants from new plus size label Harper & Liv are the perfect accompaniment.  They are actually denim, but look more like a tailored skinny pant through the leg.  Bonus: They are on sale right now for $20!
