OOTD: Sartorial Firsts – Fur Vest

Part of the fun of fashion is experimenting with new styles.  I’ve been wanting to try a faux fur vest for a while now, but I had a hard time finding one I liked in plus.  So when I saw this one on Elvi’s Facebook page, I knew it had to be mine – it has just the right amount of fluff, and the length makes it a true statement piece (despite being petite, I love the look of longline items).

I put it on the minute I got it in the mail (Elvi has wonderfully fast shipping!), and everyone immediately fell in love.  It is just SO SOFT.  Caution: People may want to pet your vest 🙂  The fur is purposefully not realistic, keeping with the fantastical faux furs seen all over fashion week.  Bonus: No one will throw red paint on you.

Because the fur is faux, it is not a heavy piece, and I am already picturing ways to carry it into summer – with cutoffs and a crop top, this is could be a great festival look.  For NYC’s still-too-cold weather, I am layering it underneath my Elvi coat.  Paired with my favorite faux leather pants and a sheer top, I was ready to go from an afternoon fashion presentation to drinks at the Standard with my girls.
