OOTD: Shopping and Smorgasburging
After a long hunt, I finally found the fringed kimono of my dreams at the Fashion to Figure sample sale last week. For a breezy summer day of shopping and meeting up with friends at weekly food festival Smorgasburg, I paired it with red cutoffs and a black tank for an easy weekend look.
My necklace was another sample sale score (for $2!). While I enjoy the now-ubiquitous jeweled statement necklace style, I love pieces that make me look again. This mix of geometric crescents and pearls caught my eye, so I had to snap it up.
My favorite part of the outfit was definitely the kimono, though. These flowy cardis are one of the key pieces of the summer, and are so effortless. Fringe is another big summer trend, so I love that this combined the two.
If you’ve never been to Smorgasburg, I definitely recommend checking it out on a cooler day, and heading there early. We went later in the afternoon, and a lot of food stalls were either selling out or sold out and closing up shop. We managed to snag a doughnut from Dough apiece (the BEST flavor ever – passion fruit glaze with cocoa nibs), and my husband got an amazing lobster roll.
The Sunday Brooklyn Bridge Park location of Smorgasburg also has the bonus of a gorgeous NYC skyline view, and being located right next to one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city, Brooklyn Heights. All in all, it was a fantastic day.
