I’ve had so many reader questions about Stitch Fix, so I’m excited to say I’ve partnered with Stitch Fix to try out the service and share my honest review with you!  I’ll admit I started out with a little bit of skepticism.  If you’ve been following me for any amount of time at all, you probably have figured out that I have my own strong sense of style, and I love to shop.  So I honestly wasn’t sure how I’d feel about a curated Stitch Fix box.  I definitely love the idea in theory, but I wasn’t sure if it was something that would be for me.  Then I got my first #StitchFixPlus box and found out I really like the process (and the results!).

When you sign up for Stitch Fix, you fill out a style quiz that asks you all about your likes, dislikes, and what you are looking for, both in general and specifically for your next box (if you are going on vacation, for example, you can note the destination and the types of pieces you want).  Since it is finally really feeling like fall in NYC, I told them I wanted sweaters, jackets, and jeans – all cozy layering essentials.  I also said I wanted to try a dress or two, and that I am up for minimal handbags, but no earrings unless they are clip on (I sadly don’t have pierced ears).

When my box arrived, I was happy to see that they really listened to both my likes and my dislikes (I specifically said “hard pass” on any cold shoulder items, and none were there!)  The first piece I pulled out of my Stitch Fix box was a rich wine colored handbag from Vince Camuto, and I felt like that was a good omen for what was to come.  Then I ripped into the carefully wrapped clothing packages with gusto – it was so fun to have the element of surprise and not know what I was going to get!  This soft grey cardigan felt so great that I had to put it on immediately.

As I continued to pull items out of the box, I was impressed with how much Stitch Fix got right (I’m pretty particular when it comes to clothes!)  Some pieces were immediate hits, like the grey cardi and these perfect high-waisted straight leg jeans from Good American.  When I saw these I literally said “It’s like they read my mind!” out loud (Pan the Pup is my witness).

I’ve been looking high and low for a good pair of light wash straight leg jeans in plus that don’t give that horrible ‘smile’ effect at the crotch, but I could not find a single one that fit me right.  Putting these on felt like an answered sartorial prayer – even more impressive since I didn’t specifically request this style of denim.  Apparently your Stitch Fix stylist will check out your any social media or inspiration boards you want to share with them, and I can tell they really spent their time getting to know me.  This gorgeous blue suede moto jacket just screams Sarah:

There were a couple pieces that I’m still not sure about, like a vintage-esque green sweater that is really pretty, but I don’t know if I’ll get enough wear out of it.  Fortunately, there’s no pressure to keep anything you don’t want: Once you make up your mind, just send any pieces you don’t want back in the pre-paid envelope included in the box, and you will only be charged for the items you keep.  You can also give feedback on all the pieces you received when you check out, and by letting your stylist know what you loved, what you didn’t, and how the sizing worked, they can further refine their selections for your next package.

There were so many Stitch Fix pieces I liked that I ended wearing four of them in one look!  I wouldn’t have thought to combine olive, merlot, and blue, but seeing the palette while I was unboxing was a major moment of inspiration.  Layered together, this makes for a great cozy autumn outfit.  My Stitch Fix stylist also got the fit and sizing right on all my picks, from these great pants to a LBD that looks like it was made for me (I’ll be sharing on IG Stories soon!) to the perfectly fitting jeans (I’m wearing a size 18).  They also hit the price points I specified – I wanted to invest in jeans and outerwear, but spend less on shirts, for example.
