November 2016. I was crushed. I didnā€™t want to b November 2016. I was crushed. I didnā€™t want to believe that our country hated women that much; that theyā€™d choose a racist sexist unqualified man over a smart and very qualified woman. When the news hit that Kamala would be the nominee, I had a panic attack. The feeling of 2016 flooded my nervous system and I sobbed thinking that this country would never elect a woman - and now weā€™d have racism to deal with too. But as I saw how she was addressing so many peopleā€™s needs and how the enthusiasm swelled behind her, I allowed myself to hope. I canā€™t believe we are back here, and it feels even worse this time. MORE people chose a convicted felon and someone proven to be a rapist in a court of law. They looked at him and said ā€œbut the price of eggs!ā€ I canā€™t fathom how so many people could be so selfish and cruel and hateful, to see the danger of so many losing rights and freedoms and say they simply donā€™t care if they think they can save a buck. I want to believe that people are generally good, but this makes it really fucking hard. I donā€™t have any answers today. I donā€™t know what the future holds. And while Iā€™d love to be cryogenically frozen or just magically sleep until things get better, thatā€™s not an option. Like I said in 2016, I donā€™t have the luxury of parents that gave me millions of dollars of loans or endless opportunities to fail upwards. I have to work to live. So Iā€™ll be back to posting soon, but for today Iā€™m just doing behind the scenes work, because thatā€™s all I can stomach. Sending love and hugs to everyone struggling today. I see you and feel you and wish we didnā€™t have to hurt like this šŸ«‚
