NYFW Day 4 OOTD: Floral Flare for Curvy Con
For my day at the Curvy Con and night at Fashion Week after parties, I wanted something bold and unique. I was happy to partner with Rue 107, one of my favorite size-inclusive brands (their clothes come in XS-3X!). Designer Marie Jean-Baptiste consistently creates beautiful statement pieces, and this crop top and flare skirt set may just be my favorite yet.
The white and purple graphic floral with pops of neon is unlike any print I’ve worn, and the quality of the skirt is just fantastic. The skirt is a substantial scuba knit, giving volume and structure (no itchy crinoline required), and the top is made of a lightweight stretch fabric. Despite the different materials, the two blend together seamlessly – many people thought this was a dress at first glance.
My shorter torso made this less of a crop on me than it might be on someone longer and taller, but I actually like the effect of just a sliver of skin peeking through occasionally.
This look was just a lot of fun, too. The colors were bold and cheerful, and the fit was spot on (and true to size – wearing a 1X in both pieces). I felt amazing in this look, and I think that showed. I got compliments on the look all day and all night – even from the lovely Danielle Brooks at the Christian Siriano after party.
The set wears well too: The skirt still looked crisp and fresh even after a full day and hours of dancing.
I also ran into a bunch of babes wearing Rue 107 during Curvy Con, including my friend Alex LaRosa in a tonal colorblocking dress.
I had an amazing time at Curvy Con. Congrats to CeCe and Chastity on another successful year! It is always so good to see all my blogging friends and be able to meet some of my lovely readers. If you ever see me out, please come say hi – I love to get to chat with you, and we can definitely take a selfie 🙂
