OOTD: Sheer Lace

There are some items that I would have never imagined myself wearing, but that I end up absolutely loving.  A black sheer lace maxi dress might have to top that list. When this piece first appeared on the Forever 21+ homepage, the internet went wild for it, but I decided it wasn’t for me.  It sold out almost immediately, so I didn’t get a chance to reconsider.  Then one day, months later, I stumbled upon a single one of these rare unicorns at the Times Square store (which I typically avoid, because it is chock full of tourists, and getting through the crush of people outside is rarely worth it).  I tried it on, just to share the fit with my readers on Instagram in a #whatididntbuy post, and was subsequently floored by the response I got.  Everyone loved the dress, and I surprised myself by joining in.  I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and ended up going back the next day to see if I could hunt down one in my size.  Two days in a row in Times Square?  That’s commitment.  It paid off – I found the right size, and decided it would be a Fashion Week look.

It was perfectly daring for the cutting edge Chromat show – the street style there was fantastic, and the tech-integrated creations that walked down the runway were truly next-level (show recap to come!)

My #psblogger babe friend Jess from Clothes and Shit ended up sitting with me, and said this photo looked like yin and yang.  I love it.
