OOTD: Oversized Button Down

I’ve loved the look of an oversized button down for years now (Man Repeller totally sold me on its merits), but it has been one of those pieces that always eluded me when it came to fit.  Anyone who is busty knows this problem all too well: If it is roomy enough to drape properly over your chest, it usually looks three sizes too big when it comes to the waist. Not in the cute way either: The key to rocking oversized pieces is to have them look purposeful; not like you have the wrong size on.  I’ve been trying on button downs to no avail for years now, so I have to admit that even finding one was something of a surprise.  The source was even more surprising: This wide sleeve, stripey oversized buttondown perfection is by Adrianna Papell, purveyor of pretty dresses.  I definitely did not think of it as a brand for fashion forward separates.  Thank goodness for Gwynnie Bee, or I probably would have never discovered this shirt.

I love pretty much everything about it: The kimono-esque sleeves, the mixed stripe placement, and especially the total lack of gaping at the chest.  These jeans are a new favorite of mine as well.  Fashion to Figure revamped their denim, and the results are wonderful.  Spot on fit, true to size, and most importantly: Consistent sizing across the board!  Once you know you size in the skinny jean, for example, you can be confident that all other skinny styles will work for you.  Even across styles, the sizing has been consistent for me: I am a 16 in the skinny and bootcut jeans, and an 18 in the boyfriend jeans (I always size up with boyfriend jeans to get that good slouchy fit).  I highly recommend trying Fashion to Figure’s new denim – I am really impressed, and I have been wearing this pair everywhere already. They make my short legs look long, so A++ in my book.  Even better, you can get 25% off denim now with the code EXTRA.
