Bloomchic 2025 Review: I tried out this affordable plus size label

With plus size stores seemingly closing in droves lately, the list of good plus size options is shrinking, and that is especially true when it comes to more affordable options. I’ve been hearing a lot about Bloomchic over the last few years, so I’ve been keeping an eye on the site. I’ll admit that when they first launched in 2021, their styles weren’t quite my own personal aesthetic, but they’ve since expanded and refined their offerings, and when I did my latest look I saw a lot of pieces I really liked – and I liked their size range even more: With sizes 10-30 or M-6X, Bloomchic is all about serving plus size and in-between “midsize” shoppers. I particularly appreciate that they have extended plus, which a lot of brands in this price range tend to exclude. So when I got a chance to partner with Bloomchic to try out their clothes and do a big review, I was excited to dive in and see how the items wear IRL.

I’m always adamant about only recommending things that I actually wear and actually like, so I hand-selected an assortment of pieces that felt most like “me,” from pretty summer sundresses to psychedelic jumpsuits to spot-on-trend fruit prints, and even swim. I then tested it all out in the real world, wearing each item out in my regular day to day life to see how they fit, feel, and wear (though some of the photos for this post were taken after the initial wear test, due the NASTY, endlessly rainy weather we’ve had in NYC lately!) Read on for my detailed review of personal hits, misses, and what I would change. Before we get into it though, I want to make sure to share my 15% off discount code (CURVILY) upfront, because I’ve had situations before where readers missed it when I put it at the end and they didn’t get the best deal possible – something that hurts my bargain-loving heart!

Okay, now let’s get into the reviews!

Vivid Groove Stretchy Adjustable Jumpsuit ($24.43)

I fell in love with this colorful, 70’s inspired wide leg jumpsuit the moment I saw it on Bloomchic’s site. I actually had a similar version in black in my cart first, but this one was just too fun to pass up. The shape also got me excited about the comfort potential: A well-done trapeze jumpsuit can be so good for weathering hot summer temps. When I saw that it is a poly spandex blend, I was a little hesitant about how it would feel on, but once I got it in hand, any concerns were assuaged. It feels like a soft jersey knit, not heavy at all, but not flimsy or synthetic feeling. Trying it on just made me like it more. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time on socials, you’ve probably heard me say that my ideal outfit is one that looks cool and pulled together but feels like pajamas, and this jumpsuit fits the bill perfectly. It was true to size, fitting perfectly on me in my usual 18/20, and the retro graphic floral print is even cooler in person. I’ve only had this jumpsuit for a couple of weeks now, but I’ve already worn it twice: Once with my platform clogs for a day of errands, and once for a chill weekend day in my neighborhood. Don’t be surprised if you see me in this a lot this summer – even with the sun beating down on me shooting on a rooftop, the breezy cut kept me of this feeling ventilated. And – the piece de la resistance – it has pockets!

Two-Piece Floral Print Ruched Mesh Swimsuit and Sarong ($29.33)

My second favorite item from my Bloomchic order was actually swimwear, which was a pleasant surprise to me, because I’m usually so picky about swim! I’ve had some bad experiences with affordable swimsuits from other brands, so I just ordered one swimsuit look for the sake of giving Bloomchic a complete review. But after getting it and trying it on, I was wishing I ordered more. The initial impression was great with a good weight to the fabric and a comfortably supportive (not squishing!) power mesh lining in the belly area. The true wear test came in water though, and I’m happy to say it passed with flying colors! After wearing this suit to a pool party (including extended time in the pool – I am a water sign, after all!) I was very impressed with both the quality and opacity of it (especially since it’s a white suit, which can be notoriously see through in swim!). My only note at the time was thinking “I just wish the straps were adjustable so I could have a little more lift in the bust” – so imagine how VERY silly I felt when I changed back into my dry clothes at the end of the party and saw that the straps were, in fact, adjustable! Not my finest memory moment, but the good news is that with this knowledge, I can unreservedly recommend this swimsuit set. Even better, it is an absolute steal of a price, especially considering that it comes with the gorgeous mesh skirt coverup (I feel like it would be sold separately on a lot of other sites!) This particular style comes in a variety of colors too, so if you like the cut and vibe of this combo, definitely check out all the other colorways in stock!

Citrus Print Shirred Pockets Midi Dress ($27.68)

Fruit prints are having a major moment this summer, and this juicy citrus print was just as irresistible to me as the actual fruit. The fresh white and orange colorway feels perfect for hot midsummer days, and the lightweight fabric catches the breeze beautifully, even in the lightly-lined skirt. The bodice is smocked in the front, which is great for accommodating a broad range of bust sizes comfortably, and also provides a little lift of its own. I wore one of my favorite underwire strapless bras here, but I think I’m going to test it out with a lighter support wireless bandeau next time I’m planning on wearing it for a longer day out (I have a personal rule against wearing an underwire strapless for days longer than eight hours). For someone with a smaller bust, you’d probably be able to wear this one comfortably braless. I also like that the straps can be worn as pictured on the Bloomchic site for square neckline, or off the shoulder for a more romantic, coastal Italian summer vibe. This is another one I feel like I’ll have in heavy rotation this summer, especially because it also has pockets (always a major bonus for a sundress IMO!)

Ditsy Floral Sweetheart Drawstring Tiered Dress in Mint ($23.03)

I am such a fan of a good sweetheart neckline and have been loving the pastel greens that are trending for 2025, so this was a natural choice for me. I wore it for a day of writing and an after-work date night with my husband, and it worked beautifully for both. I got so many compliments on my dress from other stylish NYC babes, and the tiny ditsy floral print felt like just the right amount of boho vibes for me. When ordering, I saw that this was a non-stretch rayon, so this the only one I decided to size up in, just to be on the safe side for the bust area (I am an M cup, so that is usually my biggest fit concern for fully non-stretch items). After getting it and trying it on, I think my usual size 18/20 would have worked too, but I really liked the airy, flowy fit on this 22/24, so I’d say size up in this one if you have a full bust and want the same vibe. Paired with my big buckle Birks and my trusty old Givenchy tote, it was an effortlessly pretty outfit, but it could also be easily dressed up with heels and some gold jewelry. One other thing I really liked about this one: The adjustable ruching at the bust, which lets you switch between a more covered up square neckline and a deeper sweetheart neckline with ease.

Solid Pocket Drawstring Overall Romper ($20.20)

It is no secret I love color and prints, but sometimes you just need something simple, cute, and comfortable. This little black overall romper caught my eye when scrolling for just that reason, and I knew I wanted to try it out. I wore this for a long day of writing at my coworking space, and it never once pinched or squeezed me. There are multiple pockets, including the big front pocket on the bib and the more usable ones in the shorts (I mean you definitely CAN use the front pocket – it is a real pocket – but I personally am not trying to add any more weight to my bust area!) I paired it with a basic tank top, purple accessories, and boat shoes for a day filled with unpredictable weather (it swung from being sticky and humid to rainy and chilly all day), and I felt like this held up to that rollercoaster of temperatures and humidity well. My biggest note for this piece is that the fabric description on the website doesn’t quite give the full picture of the fabric. Per the site, this romper is non-stretch poly, but to me it feels more like a light, summerweight terrycloth backed jersey sweatshirt material. This one definitely felt breathable and had stretch, so if you are concerned about sizing, I’d recommend getting your usual size (this was mine, and fit perfectly in the 18/20).

Boho Print Tie Knot Shirred Lantern Sleeve Dress ($26.93)

The lattice floral print on this dress was what initially drew me to it. The print is so pretty and unique, and not at all “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.” I found this dress to be comfortable and easy to wear, down to the fact that it is regular bra-friendly (something that I find all too rare in lots of spring and summer dresses!). The square neckline is romantic without being too prairie-esque for my personal style, and the little adjustable tie detail at the bust allows for more or less coverage as preferred. I got my usual size 18/20 in this dress (and all the other pieces I tried here, unless otherwise specified!) and the fit is just what I wanted for this style: Fitted at the bust and waist and flowy in the skirt. The fabric is really lightweight and I felt good in it on a hot day, but it is a non-stretch poly blend and, of all the pieces I tried on, felt the most like polyester, so if you need a natural fiber this probably isn’t the dress for you. For the price point and aesthetic though, it is a hit, and you will be seeing me in this one again!

Final thoughts:

All in all, I am really happy I got to try Bloomchic out so thoroughly, and can now confidently recommend it as a great place for affordable items in plus sizes up to 6x or 30W. I found the fit to be true to size across the board, with the rayon mint floral dress being the only one I sized up in (and that turned out to be more of a fit preference than a need). You might think that goes without saying, but as someone who has tried on a LOT of plus size clothing (both for my work here and as a fashion writer and editor), I know firsthand that most fast fashion at a similar price point just scales up their straight sizes without consideration of how bodies differ, leading to bad and sometimes baffling cuts and fits. I’m happy to report I did not encounter that with Bloomchic at all – everything I tried both fit correctly and looked like it was designed for actual human bodies. I also liked the variety of styles Bloomchic offers. I went with fun summer items that fit my life (and the summer I hope to have!) in this review, but they also have more casual and more office-ready options, so I recommend checking out Bloomchic’s 2025 selection even if the pieces reviewed here aren’t exactly your aesthetic – they have a ton of styles! And if you are particular about natural fibers, I recommend checking out their Cotton section, especially their “Pure Cotton” collection with 100% cotton items (like this extraordinarily cute cotton romper).

One more very important thing to note: Bloomchic is already affordable, even at full price, but if you are looking for some serious deals, I definitely recommend checking out their Mid-Year Sale (up to 70% off!) that is underway now and ends on July 1st!) My reader discount code CURVILY stacks too, so you can knock another 15% off when you enter it at checkout!

I’m including a little carousel of my current favorites below for some more inspiration too:
