What I Wore to New York Fashion Week FW25

When I was a little fashion obsessed kid growing up in the Midwest, I dreamed about going to Fashion Week one day – but in the way you dream of being an astronaut or a pop star, a fun thing to imagine, but something I never thought would be a real possibility. Now, with over a decade of New York Fashion Weeks under my belt, I still have little *pinch me* moments sometimes. It is part of my job, and can be incredibly demanding, hectic, and exhausting (physically, mentally and emotionally), but I still love it and am grateful that I am able to attend, even if I feel high-key dead by the end of it.

Part of the [slightly stressful] fun is figuring out what to wear for a week where your outfit always speaks first. As a plus size attendee, I don’t have the luxury of just having the designers dress me for every show and event (like many of my straight size peers). As someone without unlimited funds, I also don’t have money to buy a whole new wardrobe for the week. And this season, with lots of writing deadlines in the run up to Fashion Week (including my first byline for Business Insider!), I had even less time for press pulls than usual (I only managed one – borrowing a coat from Tamara Malas – because it was literally a block away from one of my presentations). Add in the very real constraints of dressing for icy wintry weather most days (we had multiple winter weather advisories this season!), and the bottom line was that I had to get creative and shop my closet to put together a week of Fashion Week looks. But the old adage about necessity breeding creativity really rang true, because this turned out to be one of my favorite run of NYFW looks in a while, with a lot of cool size inclusive indie designers in the mix.

Read on for outfit details for all eight days, including similar options for old or sold out pieces:
