17 Interesting Plus Size Dresses to Shop Now
I love a good, solid, go-to staple, but lately, with spring flowers in bloom and the possibility of an exciting summer ahead, I’ve been finding myself drawn more and more to bold statement pieces. I’ve rounded up 17 of my favorite unique plus sizes dresses available to shop now, including some I already have and some I have my eye on. Whether it’s a striking color, a fun print, or just an overall VIBE, all these dresses will make your presence known in the best way possible.
Eloquii Puff Sleeve Broderie Dress: This dress is a LOT, but to me that is 100% a feature, not a flaw. The giant puff sleeves and vibrant orange combine to make an absolute stunner of a dress, and the fact that you can wear them up for a square neckline or off the shoulder for a more romantic silhouette adds versatility.
AFRM Mesh Mixed Print: This dress was eye-catching online, but as soon I put it on, I knew it was going to be a hit (and I was right – major compliment magnet!) The mixed placement print version I’m wearing is currently only available on AFRM’s own site, but the same Amina midi style is also available in plus in a couple of other colorways here. I got the 2x in this dress, and the sizing was perfect. I’ll definitely be wearing more AFRM – they have a lot of great pieces for this year’s mesh trend.
Mayes NYC Crane Print Maxi: The minute I spotted this beautiful dress on Insta, I wanted it for my own. They sold out of the first run last year almost immediately, so I was so happy to see Mayes NYC bring it back this year. All of Mayes’ collection is ethically made in NYC, with a focus on sustainable and quality materials. This dress could pass muster at the most formal events, but can be dressed down as the prettiest maxi dress ever too with a denim jacket now or a moto for cooler weather. This photo was just a quick snap on a date night, and it doesn’t fully capture the beauty of this dress, but I did an in-depth try on and review on my Instagram – you can find it saved in my Highlights if you want to see more. And I’ve gotten to know the couple behind Mayes over the last year, so I was able to get a new Curvily-reader-exclusive discount: 20% off everything in stock on their site with code curvilymay.
Betsey Johnson Pastel Rainbow Tulle Dress: From Torrid’s latest collab with iconic designer Betsey Johnson, this dress is a tulle explosion, with a cupcake vibe and cheeky details like an unexpected leopard layer under all the tulle. If you want a 2021 Carrie Bradshaw tulle moment in plus, this is your dress – and it just went on sale!
Rachel Antonoff Sugar Cookie Floral Set: Although not *technically* a dress, this crop top and skirt set from Rachel Antonoff fits the spirit of this round up too well to not be included. Rachel Antonoff is excellent for her prints (ahem the Manhunt dress), and I love that this style comes in a few different prints, including the ever-popular giant prawn print. And while this set might initially seem like a pretty classic floral, upon closer look, it is actually a photoreal print of sugar cookies decorated with flower icing. Either way, I felt amazing in it, and I was very impressed to realize that the top had enough supportive structure that I didn’t have to wear a bra with it! I got the size 18 in the top and 20 in the skirt – I probably could have done the 18 in the skirt as well, for reference.
I’m including 12 other plus dresses that have recently caught my eye below. Some of them are already looking like they are going to sell out soon, so if something feels like your flavor of interesting, check it out soon.
