Valentines Looks for Every Occasion with Catherines
This post is sponsored by Catherines. All thoughts and opinions are my own, as always!
As a blogger, NYFW always threatens to consume the first half of my February, but Valentines Day is just over a week away and I love a good holiday themed look! So before things get too crazy, I want to share a few fun outfits from Catherines that can work for Valentines Day and beyond – none of these are so season-specific that you couldn’t rewear the other 11 months of the year, and that is on purpose: I don’t typically go for overly-kitchsy styling for holidays.
This heart print blouse from Catherines caught my eye right away – just the right amount of seasonal without being too full on. The drapey button down style is super easy to wear, and the lightweight Georgette fabric is polished enough for even a formal office setting (this would look great worn under a black suit!).
I am typically a 0x in Catherines’ generous sizing, but I always size up to a 1x in their non-stretch button downs to accommodate my bust. In a 1x, this shirt fits perfectly, with no gapping or pulling through the chest (all too rare!). This shirt comes in a bunch of different colors and prints too, so I am definitely considering adding to my collection.
I get reader requests for workwear looks all the time, so I wanted to style this versatile piece for a business casual office first.Paired with a chic pair of ankle length pants (more on those later!) and a classic pump, this look is both fun and professional. Amp up the Valentines vibes with a red lip, or add heart earrings if you want to lean in to the kitsch.
Okay, now for the pants: A good pair is never easy to find, and when I worked in an office, the perfect pair of black work pants in plus felt like the sartorial holy grail. Catherines created their Universal Pant style to address these common fit woes, but I didn’t know if they would work for me (honestly, I’m skeptical of all workwear pants at this point!). But as soon as I put them on, I was in love.
Catherines offers this style in Petite, Regular, and Tall lengths, and since I am on the cusp of petite at 5’4″ and I prefer an ankle length pant, I went with a size 16WP. The fit was exactly what I look for in a good black pant: Form hugging without being tight or squeezing my waist. Even with the cropped Petite length, they made my short legs look longer, but if you order the Regular or Tall (depending on your height), it will definitely be a legs for days situation. With sizes up to 34W in every length and multiple colors, the “Universal Pant” moniker doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch. If you are looking for a great pant in plus, I definitely recommend giving this style a go (and order true to size!)
I actually loved these pants so much that I decided to style them for the off-duty version of my heart print look too! With the shirt tucked in and tied up at the front, the great fit of the pant really shines (nothing makes me happier than pants that make my butt look good!)
Switch the pumps for a fashionable white bootie, and this workwear look is instantly trendy and ready for a weekend Galentines happy hour in the Meatpacking District.
If you are looking for less heart print and more romance, Catherines has some really pretty floral pieces. This rose print maxi dress is a flowy dream for a brunch date; and there are even options if you plan on staying in.
I love the rich scarlet hue of this lace trim chemise, and it is SO soft on the skin. I can’t stop wearing the coordinating lily print robe – just the thing if your idea of a date night is more about catching up on your favorite shows together. Bonus: Both styles are on sale now!
