OOTD: St. Patrick’s Day

This year’s St. Patrick’s Day was nothing like my raucous celebrations of yore – it was a Thursday, and I spent my day at the office, with nary a green beer to be seen.  I still wanted to show a bit of holiday spirit, so I wore this Alice & You high neck sheath from Gwynnie Bee.  Even as the adventurous shopper I’ve grown into over time, I probably would not have bought this dress if I just saw it online – the silhouette and ribbed fabric seemed like it might be overly clingy.  I did love the dark cyan color, though, so it was worth a shot to try risk free as part of my Gwynnie Bee subscription.  I’m glad I did, because I loved it as soon as I put it on.

I decided to revel in the spring weather by adding even more color, and one of my favorite prints of the moment, polka dots.  These shoes were less than $10 from Zulily, a flash sale site that I like to refer to as the Burlington of the internet: Lots of stuff to sift through, but when you do find something good, the deal is often incredible.  These ankle strap flats are still available in limited sizes (go to Zulily here and search for “Liliana Erykah”).  If they don’t have your size, click the notify me button – they often restock previously sold out items – I’ve snagged a couple of things I missed that way.

My polka dot satchel is by Betsey Johnson, found at TJ Maxx.  It is sold out online, but you can find a similar style here.  My bag came with a black satin bow, which I removed to make it more my style.  Pro tip: If there is one small, easily changeable thing you don’t like about something that is otherwise awesome; get it and modify accordingly.  You are not bound to the designer’s vision – make it your own!  I even decided to switch up my ever-present Fitbit with a springy band for this look – I can’t wait until more designers start sprucing up these cases!
