OOTD: Cozy and Oversized
This sweater is an amalgamation of elements I used to admire from afar, but didn’t wear myself because I was worried about them being flattering: Oversized, chunky knit, cowl turtleneck. A few years ago, any one of these elements would have given me pause, but here I am happily wearing all three in one ridiculously cozy sweater (even sans sleeves!). Consciously letting go of old fashion rules is the best.
The giant cowl turtleneck is amazing for cold days, and for being faux dramatic (hiding your entire head in a collar is a great way to comically declare you are over the day).
Do you have an oversized sweater in your closet? Pairing it with leather leggings and boots is an easy way to shed any shlumpy connotations that you might associate with the style.
Cowl turtleneck sweater: Zara (sold out, similar here, here and here – this is an item that you can easily shop in the straight size section for if you are a size 20 or below, or higher depending on the particular garment. H&M in particular has lots of oversized knits)
Faux leather leggings: Wet Seal+ (similar)
Moto boots: Ann Taylor Loft (old, but Rag and Bone has an identical pair. Similar here at a lower price point)
