On Friday, I did something I’ve wanted to do for over a decade: I dyed my hair purple.

Bright, bold, definitely not naturally occurring purple.  Colorist Allison Rappel at Antonio Prieto salon in Chelsea got the color exactly right – full of dimensions and super shiny, even after the multiple processes required for this shade.

I’ve dreamt of this hair color since I was a teenager, and life never worked out to make it possible until now, so fulfilling this hair goal now when I am 30 and totally happy with my life and career makes it even sweeter.

This awesome hooded dress from Brooklyn brand Line & Label, which is making plus sizes exclusively for Madison Plus’ new online contemporary boutique Hey Gorgeous, felt like just the thing to rock with my new hue.

The trim and skirt are made of real leather, something that is increasingly hard to find.  The fit is great – it has a relaxed shift silhouette, without being overly boxy.

I went for a monochrome look, both because it just felt right and to let my hair shine 🙂 With my trusty moto boots and tights, I was ready for some CMJ shows.
